Many of the beneficiaries at SCE are either affected or infected by HIV & AIDS. This day is important as it assists in remembering lost family members (parents/ siblings) as well as provide time for kids to talk about this illness which affects so many. We do a candle lighting ceremony and have a special garden called the “Garden of Remembrance” which pays homage to lost family members.
As the beneficiaries of SCE fall into the Orphans and Vulnerable sector (OVC) it is important that we commemorate this day as many children are either affected or infected by the virus, have lost parents or family members.
PEPFAR has been a major funder for us this year enabling the start of Enterprise Development Initiatives (EDI) to assist in the concept of sustainability.
This year we hosted a special visitor for World Aids Day.
He is a young man, who has designed a game board to teach families and young people about HIV and AIDS awareness.
