Woman of Vision (WoV)
A group of Women in the Westbury are came together in 1996 to form Women of Vision. Their impact in community has spanned over 20 years. Their empowering initiatives provide interventions for high levels of poverty, abuse, substance abuse and lack of fundamental resources to those most vulnerable in community – namely children ,women and the elderly. A shared vision in restoration of dignity and respect to their beneficiaries, has made WoV a collaboration partner with a history of over 10 years with Slovo Centre of Excellence. Aunt Sophie and her daughter Saurell, ensure the daily services offered at Dorcas crèche provide care and education for their children, while empowering a new generation of teachers. Their passion, loyalty and love is exhibited in all they do.
They are involved in several initiatives including Orphans and Vulnerable children, After Care, Social Work, the Elderly , a food garden and Social Entrepreneurship providing help to sell goods made by locals on available platforms. They provide families with food parcels on a regular basis to assist
households due to high levels of unemployment in the area.
Dorcas crèche has also been part of the play date session at the Centre, with exposure to the Rugby tots programme and upliftment of the care givers to the wonderful world of play based learning. We are encouraged by the attendance of some of their After Care school learners in our Computer literacy program, and continue to support each other as local Organisations sharing skills, resources and a passion to impact all who pass through our doors. We salute these wonderful ladies for their tireless efforts and support in what we do.
